Hours & Fees
Sebago Lake State Park is open every day of the year from 9 a.m. to sunset, unless a different time is posted at the gate. Day use costs $6 for Maine residents and $8 for non-residents aged 12 and over, $1 for children 5 to 11, and nothing for children under 5. Maine residents 65 and over get in free with proof of age, and non-resident seniors pay $2. The fee is collected all year, so bring cash.
Hours and Fees at a Glance
Opening Hours
The Bureau of Parks and Lands sets day-use hours at all state parks as 9 a.m. to sunset daily, and Sebago follows that rule all year. Staff collect the fee at the entry booth; when the booth is closed you pay at a self-service station. There is no seasonal closing for the day-use area; in winter the Casco-side trails are groomed for skiing. See winter at the park.
The campground keeps its own hours: campers register between 1 p.m. and 9 p.m., the camping day runs from 1 p.m. to 11 a.m., and quiet hours are 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. See the campground.
Day-Use Fees (Per Person, Per Day)
- Maine resident, 12 and over: $6
- Non-resident, 12 and over: $8
- Non-resident senior: $2
- Maine resident 65 and over: free, with proof of age
- Children 5 to 11: $1
- Children under 5: free
Cash is accepted at the booth and at the self-service stations. The Bureau says only 15 parks take credit cards, and only while the booth is staffed, so plan to pay cash.
Is It Free for Maine Residents?
Only for residents aged 65 and older. Everyone else aged 12 and over pays $6 a day as a Maine resident or $8 as a non-resident, unless they hold an annual pass.
Annual State Park Passes
- Vehicle pass, $105: day use for everyone in one vehicle of up to 17 passengers.
- Individual pass, $55: day use for the pass holder only.
- Senior annual vehicle pass (65 and over), $45: day use for everyone in the vehicle, as long as the senior is in it.
Passes are sold online, with your Maine income tax return, at parks in summer, by phone from the reservations call center, or by mail. They cover day use only, not camping, and they do not cover Songo Lock.
Boat Launch Fee
For trailered boats, the launch fee is the posted per-person day-use fee or $10 per vehicle, whichever is less, so a carload of Maine residents never pays more than $10. Kayaks, canoes and other hand-carried boats pay the per-person fee. See boating.
Songo Lock Fee
The lock charges $15 per boat for a round trip, which the Bureau's fee list writes as $7.50 per passage. It runs from May 1 to October 15, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. See Songo Lock.
Camping Fees
Campsites cost $25 a night for Maine residents and $35 for non-residents, or $35 and $45 for a site with water and electric hookups. Reservations add $5 per site per night, and a 9% lodging tax applies. Your camping fee includes day use of the park. See the campground.
Other Fees
- Group picnic shelter: $150; group picnic site: $35, plus day-use fees. See picnic areas.
- Commercial bus tour: $75 per bus per trip, by reservation.
- Dump station for day-use visitors: $20 per unit.
